About NET Internet Speed Test

NET is a browser-based speed test built to make internet performance easier to understand.

What this tool does

NET Internet Speed Test measures the connection available to your current browser and device. It checks download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter, then explains the results for common use cases such as everyday browsing, online gaming, video streaming and remote work.

How the test works

The download test receives data from an external test endpoint and calculates Mbps from the amount of data received over time. The upload test sends temporary data through the app to an external speed endpoint and calculates upload Mbps from the bytes sent over time. Ping and jitter are estimated with repeated lightweight network requests.

Why results can vary

Speed tests are snapshots. Wi-Fi strength, router quality, VPNs, device load, browser extensions, ISP routing and time-of-day congestion can all affect the result. For the most useful comparison, run several tests at different times and test both near your router and where you normally use the internet.

What makes this site useful

Instead of only showing one Mbps number, NET adds context. The Gaming page focuses on latency, the Streaming page explains video quality, the Work page highlights upload speed and the ISP card compares your result with an advertised plan when enough information is available.
