An internet speed test measures how quickly your connection can move data between your browser and a test server. The main number most people notice is download speed, because it affects browsing, app updates, file downloads, video streaming and most everyday internet tasks. Upload speed matters when you send data out, such as backing up files, posting videos, live streaming, sending large attachments or joining video calls. Ping and jitter measure responsiveness rather than raw bandwidth. A connection can have strong Mbps but still feel bad if latency is unstable.
This page gives a general view of your connection. It is useful when you want a quick answer to the question: is my internet working normally right now? Run the test when no large downloads are active, then run it again during the time of day when problems usually happen. Comparing both results can reveal congestion, weak Wi-Fi, router issues or ISP slowdowns. If Wi-Fi results look poor, test again near the router or with a wired connection where possible.
Download speed is shown in Mbps, which means megabits per second. It is not the same as megabytes per second, the unit many file managers use. Upload is also shown in Mbps. Ping is shown in milliseconds, where lower is better. Jitter is the variation between ping samples, and lower jitter means the connection is more consistent. For daily use, consistency often matters as much as peak speed because unstable latency can cause buffering, lag or video call dropouts.
A single speed test is a snapshot, not a permanent rating of your plan. Results can change because of Wi-Fi signal, router load, VPNs, background cloud sync, browser extensions, device power saving or ISP routing. For the most reliable picture, close heavy apps, test more than once and compare results across devices. If every device is slow at different times of day, the issue is more likely your network or ISP than a single phone or laptop.

Advertised speeds are usually best-case plan speeds. Wi-Fi distance, router quality, congestion, VPNs, old devices and background downloads can all reduce the result.

Download matters most for browsing and streaming. Upload matters for video calls, cloud backups, live streaming and sending large files.
Internet routes, local Wi-Fi conditions and background device activity change constantly, so small differences between tests are normal.
